About the cabins
You can book directly through our booking system using the links on this website. Select your dates and your preferred cabin will be confirmed subject to availability. We use Camp Manager for all bookings.
Each cabin sleeps two people only. This is a condition of our Short-Term Let Licence and cannot be changed. Two adults, or one adult and one child, is the maximum. We cannot accommodate two adults and a child in a single cabin.
Yes, children over two years old are very welcome. Please keep in mind our strict maximum capacity of two people per cabin, meaning any child staying must share a cabin with one adult. We cannot accept bookings with children under two as there are no cot facilities. For older children, please note that the path to the cabins is steep and uneven, there are wildlife ponds on site, and we do not have dedicated play facilities. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
We do not allow pets at Glengarry Forest Cabins. The site is a haven for local wildlife, including deer, red squirrels, pine martens, and a huge variety of woodland birds. To protect this sensitive environment and ensure the wildlife remains undisturbed, we ask that guests leave their pets at home. Assistance dogs are legally exempt from our no-pets policy and are very welcome. If you are travelling with an assistance dog, please contact us before booking.
Yes. When you book you will be able to see which cabins are available for your dates and choose accordingly. If you have a preference, book early as we have only six cabins! Read more about the unique tree names of our six cabins on the cabins page.
Yes. Each cabin features a proper, bespoke timber bed frame handmade for us by North Woods Design in Ullapool. The beds can be configured as a comfortable double or as two singles. You choose your preference at he time of booking, and the cabin will be set up accordingly before you arrive.
Yes, you are welcome to book multiple cabins for a group getaway, subject to availability. Our amenity building, Am Fasgadh, is a great space for groups to gather. The dining tables and benches inside were hand-built from local timber by our community team, and they can be kept separate or joined together to form one long communal table for group meals!
At the moment we will close at the end of October 2026. We may open for New Year bookings but will be closed over Christmas. Enquiries are welcome for off season stays or group bookings during this time, and we would like to gauge demand. Weather can be unpredictable especially in winter, and in severe weather we would have to cancel bookings. However, the cabins themselves are built to a very high standard of insulation. With the wood-burning stove going, they are incredibly warm and cosy no matter what the weather is doing outside.
Check-in is from 3 PM. Please do not arrive before then as the cabin may still be being prepared. Check-out is by 10 AM. Arrivals after 10 PM cannot be accepted. If you are running significantly late due to travel disruption please contact us as soon as possible.
Full refund if cancelled 14 or more days before arrival; 50 per cent refund if cancelled between 7 and 14 days before arrival; no refund if cancelled within 7 days of arrival.
Accessibility & Terrain
No, the cabins are set back in the woodland and can only be accessed on foot. You will need to leave your vehicle in the main car park at the base of the site.
From the car park and Am Fasgadh, it is approximately a 10-minute walk up to the cabins. You will be walking on a wide main track, but please be aware that it is a continuous, steep uphill walk. There are also two alternative walking paths that connect the cabins to the amenity building, but these are even steeper. There are solar ground lights along the path and torches available, but you will need to carry your own luggage up to your cabin.
Because the cabins are accessed via a steep 10-minute walk, we highly recommend bringing backpacks or soft weekend bags rather than heavy wheeled suitcases. You will also want sensible walking shoes and a warm and waterproof jacket. We suggest checking the weather forecast for your stay.
Because of our woodland setting, the cabins are accessed via a steep, uneven 10-minute track from the car park. Additionally, there are steps leading up to the porch of each cabin. For these reasons, the cabins themselves are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users or guests who may find sustained incline walking or steps difficult. At Am Fasgadh (our amenity building at the car park level), we do have an accessible toilet, but please note there is no accessible shower available.
Cabin life & facilities
Each cabin has a wood-burning stove, a battery-powered electric kettle, tea and coffee, two mugs and two wine glasses, and a composting toilet accessed from a covered porch. The cabin is a single open space divided by a slatted timber screen, with a sitting area with two armchairs on one side and a sleeping area on the other. Outside, each cabin has its own picnic bench.
Yes. All bed linen and towels are provided for your stay, so there is no need to bring your own sleeping bags.
Am Fasgadh (pronounced am FASK-uh) is the Gaelic word for shelter. It is our amenity building at the base of the site by the car park, kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. It is open to all guests throughout their stay and houses the hot showers, a shared kitchen, flushing toilets, Wi-Fi, and device charging. You will also find picnic benches outside for enjoying the fresh air.
No. The cabins have a kettle but no kitchen facilities. A fully equipped shared kitchen is available at Am Fasgadh, a short walk down the hill. The kitchen includes standard appliances such as a cooker, hob, microwave, and a fridge for guests to store their food and a communal dining area.
There is no mains electricity connection in the cabins. Each cabin has a high-capacity battery system that provides power for the lighting, the kettle, and basic device charging. There is no Wi-Fi in the cabins themselves, but it is freely available down the hill at Am Fasgadh. There is mobile phone signal on site, though we still highly recommend downloading any necessary maps or information before you arrive.
Yes, fresh drinking water is available for guests to use at Am Fasgadh. We provide water bottles so you can easily fill up at the amenity building and carry fresh drinking water up to your cabin. The water in the cabin toilet is for handwashing only.
The composting toilet is a waterless system accessed from a covered porch just off the main cabin space. It features a main toilet and a small urinal. It is thoroughly cleaned (using eco-friendly products wherever possible) and refreshed with a new liner between every stay, so it arrives for each guest hygienically clean and odour-free. Please use only the toilet paper provided. There is also a small basin for washing your hands using cold rainwater from a storage tank. Please note this water is not safe to drink. Fully flushing toilets are available at Am Fasgadh.
Your cabin's wood-burning stove will come with firelighters and enough wood to last for your stay. You will find clear, step-by-step instructions inside your cabin on how to light and maintain the fire safely. We ask that you follow these instructions carefully and be responsible when operating the stove.
No, we do not allow any outside fires or barbecues anywhere on the site. Because our cabins are located in an active woodland, the fire risk can be incredibly high, especially after a few days of dry Highland weather. We strictly prohibit outdoor fires to protect the forest and the wildlife that lives here. You will, however, have your cosy wood-burning stove to enjoy safely inside the cabin.
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the cabins and inside Am Fasgadh. You are welcome to smoke outside at your cabin, and we provide a small tin with sand for you to safely and cleanly dispose of your cigarette ends. Please help us protect the woodland by ensuring all cigarettes are fully extinguished in the tins provided.
No. We do not permit any camping, campervans, or motorhomes on the site. All guests must be booked into one of our six cabins.

Glengarry Forest Cabins is at The Old Forestry Depot, Invergarry, PH35 4HG. For exact navigation, use the What3Words code ///sniff.bagpipes.moats which will bring you directly to the site entrance on the A87.
Yes, there is a secure car park at the base of the site next to Am Fasgadh. Access is controlled by an automatic license plate recognition barrier. We will collect your car registration details during or shortly after the booking process so the barrier opens automatically for you when you arrive. Please note that all cars must be left in this car park.
Yes, the site is within easy walking distance of Invergarry village. There is a pavement all the way there, making it a very safe and straightforward walk, especially if you are arriving on foot from the Great Glen Way or the Great Glen Canoe Trail. In the village, you will find a couple of hotels serving food, some seasonal eateries, and the Glengarry Filling Station which is open all year round. Find out more on the explore page.
For everyday basics, the Glengarry Filling Station in the village is just a short walk or drive away. They have a handy shop selling milk, bread, snacks, and cakes, alongside a small freezer section, hot coffees, and hot dogs. If you need a wider selection, Fort Augustus is about a 15-minute drive north (and is also accessible by regular buses from Invergarry). There you will find an award-winning fish and chip shop and Girvans, a hardware and food shop run by our neighbouring community trust which stocks essentials, fruit, and veg. For a full supermarket shop, we recommend stopping in Fort William or Inverness before you arrive.
There is no EV charging on site at present, although we hope to install this in the future. The nearest EV chargers are just a short walk or drive away at the Glengarry Filling Station in the village. The garage also provides unleaded and diesel fuel and is open every day from 7 AM to 9 PM.
Our woodland & community
The cabins are set within a former plantation forest known as a PAWS (Plantation on Ancient Woodland Site). The Glengarry Community Development Trust is actively managing and regenerating the area to restore its native broadleaf woodland character. The clearings around the cabins are already seeing native pioneer species like young rowans and birch seedlings naturally growing back.
There is a circular path around the site and two steep paths that lead down to Am Fasgadh. We ask that guests please stick to these designated paths and the clearing around your cabin, and avoid walking in the wider woods. This is primarily to protect the local wildlife and the fragile young saplings that are regenerating on the forest floor. The wider woodland is also quite rough underfoot with fallen trees, rocks and moss. Staying on the paths allows you to enjoy the site without walking through long grass, which is the best way to avoid ticks. As with almost everywhere in the Scottish Highlands, midges can be present during the warmer, stiller months (usually May to September). Because our cabins are slightly elevated on the hillside, we often get a nice breeze which helps keep them at bay! However, we still highly recommend packing a good repellent like Smidge and keeping your cabin doors closed at dawn and dusk.
The structural frames for the cabins were built by North Woods Design in Ullapool. To clad the exteriors, our local community team used high-quality Japanese larch from trees felled from the cabin site. We have our own sawmill, and offcuts fuel the wood-burning stoves and Am Fasgadh's underfloor heating and hot water system, along with solar power. We also use eco-friendly cleaning products across the site wherever possible. The cabin beds were crafted by North Woods Design. Am Fasgadh's dining tables, and other features have been handcrafted by our team from local timber and materials. Other furnishings come from standard sources. We use local tradespeople and contactors whenever possible.
Glengarry Forest Cabins is owned by the Glengarry Community Benefit Society, a community benefit society registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. The society raised the funding to build the cabins through a community share offer, meaning local people and supporters were able to invest directly in the project by purchasing community shares. The cabins are operated on a day-to-day basis by the Glengarry Community Development Trust on behalf of the society. The Trust (formerly Glengarry Community Woodlands) has managed this woodland since 2015 for the benefit of the local community.
All profits go directly to the Glengarry Community Development Trust. By law, as a charitable organisation, any profits must go towards our charitable purposes. Income from the cabins supports local employment and the Trust's wider work in Glengarry, which includes projects around affordable housing and community development.
